DIY Coffee Scrubs and Beauty Treatments

Coffee grounds can be a versatile ingredient in DIY beauty treatments. The granular nature of coffee grounds makes them a great natural exfoliant, while caffeine has certain benefits that can rejuvenate the skin. Here are a few DIY coffee scrubs and beauty treatments:

1. Basic Coffee Scrub

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of used coffee grounds (let them dry out a little if they're super wet)

  • 1/2 cup sugar or salt (based on preference)

  • 1/2 cup coconut oil (melted)

Instructions:

  1. Mix the coffee grounds and sugar or salt together in a bowl.

  2. Gradually add the melted coconut oil and mix until you have a coarse paste.

  3. In the shower or over the sink, massage the mixture into your skin in a circular motion, then rinse. Avoid using on broken or irritated skin.

2. Coffee Face Mask

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp coffee grounds

  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder

  • 3 tbsp milk, yogurt, or heavy cream

  • 1 tbsp honey (for dry skin) or lemon juice (for oily skin)

Instructions:

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl until you have a smooth paste.

  2. Apply to face and let it sit for about 15-20 minutes.

  3. Rinse off with lukewarm water, pat dry.

3. Coffee Cellulite Scrub

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup coffee grounds

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • Olive oil or coconut oil

Instructions:

  1. Mix coffee grounds and brown sugar together.

  2. Add enough oil to create a spreadable paste.

  3. In the shower, apply to areas with cellulite and massage in a circular motion. Rinse off.

4. Coffee Lip Exfoliant

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp coffee grounds

  • 1 tsp honey

  • 1 tsp olive oil or coconut oil

Instructions:

  1. Mix all ingredients in a small bowl.

  2. Apply to lips and gently scrub in a circular motion.

  3. Rinse off with warm water.

5. Coffee Eye Treatment

Ingredients:

  • Fresh coffee grounds

Instructions:

  1. Apply a thin layer of fresh coffee ground under your eyes.

  2. Let sit for 5-10 minutes.

  3. Gently rinse off. (The caffeine can help reduce puffiness and dark circles.)

Notes:

  • Always test any DIY treatment on a small patch of skin first to ensure you don't have a reaction.

  • Keep these DIY treatments in a sealed container in the refrigerator if you're making them in advance. Due to the natural ingredients, they won't last as long as commercial products, so it's best to use them within a week.

  • Always be gentle when exfoliating. Over-exfoliating can irritate the skin.

Enjoy your homemade coffee beauty treatments! They can be both effective and a fun way to repurpose used coffee ground. For details on coffee, check out: 224Coffee.com
