Irish Coffee Recipe

Here's a classic recipe for making an Irish Coffee:

Ingredients:

  1. Freshly brewed hot coffee - 8 oz (240 ml)

  2. Irish whiskey - 1.5 oz (45 ml)

  3. Brown sugar (or white sugar) - 1 to 2 tsp (depending on preference)

  4. Fresh heavy cream - 1 oz (30 ml) (lightly whipped)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Glass: Before you start, it's recommended to warm your serving glass. You can do this by pouring hot water into the glass, letting it sit for a minute, and then discarding the water.

  2. Add Sugar to the Glass: Put the brown sugar into the pre-warmed glass.

  3. Pour in Whiskey: Over the sugar, pour in the Irish whiskey.

  4. Add Coffee: Pour in the hot coffee until the glass is about three-quarters full. Make sure to leave room for the cream.

  5. Stir: Stir well to dissolve the sugar completely in the coffee/whiskey mix.

  6. Add Cream: Lightly whip the heavy cream just so it's a little thickened but still pourable. You don't want it too stiff. Using the back of a spoon, held just above the coffee's surface, pour the whipped cream over so it floats on top. The idea is for the cream to float on the coffee rather than mixing in.

  7. Serve: Serve your Irish Coffee immediately while it's still hot. Do not stir after adding the cream; the coffee is sipped through the cream.

Note: The balance of sweetness, strength of coffee, and whiskey can be adjusted to personal preference. The cream on top acts as an insulator, keeping the coffee hot, while also providing a cool contrast in each sip. Enjoy! For details on coffee, check out: 224Coffee.com
