Kahlua Coffee Recipe

Updated: Sep 25, 2023

Kahlúa is a popular coffee-flavored liqueur originating from Mexico. Made with sugar, rum, coffee, and vanilla, it has a sweet and rich profile. You can drink Kahlúa on its own, but it's also a versatile ingredient in cocktails and recipes.

Here's how you can make a basic Kahlúa Coffee:

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz. (30ml) Kahlúa

  • Freshly brewed hot coffee (about 6 oz. or 180ml)

  • Whipped cream (optional)

  • Cocoa or cinnamon powder for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preparation: Brew a fresh cup of your favorite coffee. The type and roast of coffee can change the flavor, so choose one you love.

  2. Mixing: Pour the Kahlúa into a coffee mug or heat-proof glass. Add the hot coffee.

  3. Topping: If you like, top your coffee with a dollop of whipped cream. This gives it a luxurious texture and a sweet touch.

  4. Garnish: Sprinkle a little cocoa or cinnamon powder on top for an extra hint of flavor.

  5. Serve & Enjoy: Sip and savor your Kahlúa coffee!

Kahlúa also forms the base of several famous cocktails like the White Russian, Black Russian, and Espresso Martini. If you're in the mood for something cold, you can even try a Kahlúa iced coffee by just adding cold coffee and ice to the mix!
