Hopper: A coffee roaster hopper is a component of a coffee roasting machine where green coffee beans are loaded. It serves as the entry point for the beans before they are introduced into the roasting chamber. The hopper is usually a funnel-shaped container located at the top of the roaster, and its primary purpose is to hold and funnel the green coffee beans into the roasting chamber or drum efficiently. The design of the hopper allows for easy loading of the beans and may have a mechanism or gate that controls the flow of the beans into the roasting chamber, helping in maintaining a consistent batch size.

Roasting Chamber or Drum:

A coffee roaster drum is a component of a drum roaster, one of the types of coffee roasters. It is a cylindrical chamber where green coffee beans are placed to be roasted. Typically, the drum rotates to ensure that the beans are roasted evenly. It's heated, usually by a gas or electric source, and the beans are tumbled inside, allowing the heat to be more uniformly distributed across all the beans, avoiding uneven roasting. After the roasting process reaches the desired level, the beans are usually released into a cooling tray. The drum is crucial for achieving a consistent roast and developing the desired flavor profiles of the coffee beans. Location: Below or beside the hopper, usually cylindrical and made of metal.


Heating Element:

Cooling Tray:

A coffee roaster cooling tray is an essential component of a coffee roaster, designed to rapidly cool coffee beans once they have reached the desired level of roast. After roasting, the beans retain heat and continue to cook, so quick cooling is crucial to halt the roasting process and preserve the desired flavor profile. Chaff Collector:

A coffee roaster chaff collector is a component designed to gather and contain chaff, the thin skin or husk that is separated from the coffee beans during the roasting process. Location: Often connected to the exhaust system.


Agitator (in Cooling Tray):

Moves the beans around the cooling tray for even cooling.

Location: Located in the cooling tray.


Thermocouples or Temperature Probes:

Monitors the temperature inside the roasting chamber or drum to ensure accurate roasting levels. Location: Inserted into the roasting chamber/drum.
